In order to practice as an aromatherapist in South Africa, you need to be registered with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa (AHPCSA) as a Therapeutic Aromatherapist. Training is over 2 years at an accredited institution. Currently the only institution recognized by the AHPCSA for therapeutic aromatherapy is Potchefstroom Akademie.
